Cinapsis SmartReferrals is a digital referral and advice platform used across the NHS to streamline communication between primary and secondary care. It enables GPs, optometrists, and other community clinicians to quickly access specialist advice, share images and clinical data securely, and make referrals with greater speed and accuracy.
Spearheaded by Sally Mole, Digital Programme Manager at Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, this ground-breaking integration has revolutionised the Trust’s ophthalmology referral process. Previously, referrals were received through multiple channels and could take up to six weeks to process—requiring manual downloading and entry into mediSIGHT by the Patient Management Centre. The new system eliminates those inefficiencies, streamlining clinical workflows, enhancing the patient experience, and saving valuable time for both clinicians and administrators.
